Sarkijarven Majat
We rented an apartment at the Särkijärven Majat. Särkijärven (“Roach Fish Lake”) Majat is a family-owned, cozy holiday resort in Muonio, Finnish Lapland, offering year-round accommodation in scenic nature settings by Lake Särkijärvi. Sarkijarven in Finnish means “Roach Fish Lake” and Majat means “huts, cabins, or cottages”. We had a sauna in our apartment and there is a sauna hut right next to the lake, where you can take a plunge in the ice-cold lake water. Breakfast and dinner were served in its restaurant called "Apaja" that serves homemade, Finnish food. Just outside our apartment, we could access the extensive groomed cross-country trails at no charge. The towns in the region contribute to funding the grooming.
