All Other Birds
I want to call attention to one of the birds shown below, the Clay-colored Thrush. While clearly not as colorful as many of Costa Rican birds, the Clay-colored Thrush was chosen as Costa Rica's national bird in 1977 because of its beautiful song and its close relationship with humans. Farmers relied on the bird's song to plan their activities, highlighting the interdependence between humans and wildlife. It has a powerful and melodious song and is said to signal the start of the rainy season.
