Borneo 2019

In 2019 I traveled to Malaysian Borneo to experience its amazing biological diversity. The island hosts nearly 100 endemic reptiles (288 total); 63 endemic mammals (280 total), and 52 endemic birds (650 total). The Bornean rainforest is estimated to be around 140 million years old, making it one of the oldest rainforests in the world. Our tour was focused on the northern part of Borneo, in the East Malaysian state of Sabah. You can see a map showing Borneo and Sabah below. The tour was led by Steve Shunk of Paradise Birding (https://www.paradisebirding.com).
